読んでおくとエロゲーを2倍楽しめる現代小説10冊
続・エロゲーヲタに読ませたい現代小説10冊 －永遠はないよ－という記事。谷崎は『刺青』なんかもよいですよね。本当に変態で。んで、エロゲに影響を与えてそうな作品という観点で考えてみても面白いかなぁ、とか不意に思ったのでちょっと書いてみる。
- 宇宙の戦士 ロバート・A・ハインライン
- エイリアンと戦うために軍隊で鍛え上げられていく青年の話。ガンダムからエヴァ、マブラヴオルタにまでいたる日本のロボット物ミリタリSFへの影響は絶大。
- ニューロマンサー ウィリアム・ギブスン
- 近未来を舞台としたサイバーパンクの原点。電脳空間とかAIとかコンピューターサイエンス関係は大体これが元ネタ、というか、すでにほとんど全てやりつくされている。
- 幼年期の終り アーサー・C・クラーク
- 20世紀の終わりに宇宙人がいきなりやってきて、ユートピア的な世界を作り上げたかと思うと……みたいな話。やけにスケールのでかいSF。
- 1984 ジョージ・オーウェル
- 絶対的な管理社会と人間性の抹殺を描いたディストピア小説。冷戦はとっくに終わったのに、ますます現実味が増してくる作品。
- スローターハウス5 カート・ヴォネガットJr
- 第二次大戦中のドレスデン爆撃の経験を下敷きとして書かれた、シニカルかつ繊細な一種のタイムトラベルSF。ブラックユーモアで武装しなければ語れない現実の悲惨さ。
- 他人の顔 安部公房
- 顔に火傷を負って妻に逃げられた主人公が、仮面をかぶって他人になりきって妻を誘惑する、という話。人間の孤独とコミュニケーションの不安という安部公房お馴染みの主題。
- 世界の終りとハードボイルド・ワンダーランド 村上春樹
- もうひとり日本人。幻想的な「世界の終り」とスパイ小説風の「ハードボイルド・ワンダーランド」という二つの世界を同時並行で語っていく作品。セカイ系とかあのへんの自意識過剰な作品の元祖。
- 不死の人 ホルヘ・ルイス・ボルヘス
- ホメロス・『千夜一夜物語』などを素材としつつ作り上げられた、幻想的かつ思弁的なメタフィクションを集めた短編集。比較的物語性が高いので読みやすい。
- 蝿の王 ウィリアム・ゴールディング
- 孤島に閉じこめられてしまった少年たちが作り上げたユートピア的社会が次第に崩壊していく、という作品。シニカルかつ冷静に人間存在の本質を抉り出しています。
- 指輪物語 J.R.R.トールキン
- ファンタジーからひとつ選ぶとすれば文句なしでこれでしょう。「中つ国」を舞台とした長大な冒険譚。ドラクエをはじめとするあらゆる中世風ファンタジーの元ネタ。
どうにもこうにもSFだらけ。日本のオタク文化はSFから始まったとか言われることがよくありますが、確かにSFだよなぁ、といった感じ。

『1984』よりも、オルダス・ハックスリー『すばらしい新世界』のほうが現代的。

ハックスリーは対象外ということにしました。
